Campaign Autopilot is now available to all merchants

Shopify has made Campaign Autopilot available to all merchants, with more channels and features, including SEO optimisations. You set a budget and guardrails, and Autopilot reviews your store, products and customers, then builds a marketing campaign across channels. For brands with small teams and busy launch calendars it promises less manual campaign work, but it also hands real spending decisions to software, so it deserves a careful look.
What it is
Campaign Autopilot is a Shopify tool that plans and runs marketing for you. Shopify describes the process in simple terms: you set the budget and the guardrails, then Autopilot looks at your store, products and customers and builds a campaign. It decides which channels to run on and how to divide spend between them, and it shifts budget towards what performs best.
The channels named in the update are Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Snapchat, Shop and Shopify Messaging. X Ads is listed as coming soon.
How it works and how to access it
It is available now. You can find it in the Growth tab of the Shopify admin, and Shopify has a Help Center article with more detail.
The update also adds SEO suggestions. Autopilot proposes search optimisations that you can review and approve, and you can ask for SEO updates directly in Sidekick, Shopify's AI assistant.
Limits and caveats
The announcement does not mention pricing, plans, regions or usage limits, other than X Ads being marked as coming soon. It also does not describe the guardrails in detail, so it is not clear from the entry exactly what you can restrict, such as brand tone, products, audiences or channels. Those details matter a great deal for a fashion or streetwear label with a distinct identity.
Because the tool chooses channels and allocates spend, you give up some control compared with a manually managed account. That can be a fair trade, but only if you can see what it is doing and why.
What it means for merchants
For smaller brands without a full-time paid media specialist, Autopilot lowers the barrier to running structured campaigns across several channels. For larger brands, the question is whether it matches or beats what your current team or agency achieves, and how it fits alongside existing ad accounts and creative standards.
The main risks are brand control and spend. Set a budget you are comfortable losing while you learn how it behaves, and look at the guardrails as a brand safety decision as well as a financial one. The SEO suggestions are a gentler place to start, because you review and approve them before anything changes.
What it means for agencies and partners
Agencies that manage paid media should expect clients to ask about it. The useful response is a clear view of where automation can help, for example on smaller channels or testing, and where human judgement still matters, such as positioning, creative direction and customer lifetime value. Agencies should also check how Autopilot results will be reported and attributed alongside existing campaigns, so that spend is not counted twice or credited to the wrong source.
How we would approach it
- Read the Help Center article and find Autopilot in the Growth tab to see what is offered for your store.
- Decide the guardrails first, including budget, brand rules and anything you never want promoted.
- Run a small, time-limited test with a modest budget, separate from your core campaigns.
- Review the SEO suggestions on their own merits and approve only what fits your brand.
- Compare results with your current approach on cost per order and new customers, then decide whether to widen it.
The short version
Campaign Autopilot now builds and runs campaigns from a budget and guardrails you set, across Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Snapchat, Shop and Shopify Messaging, with SEO suggestions you approve. It is available in the Growth tab. Pricing and limits are not stated, so test small, keep control of your brand rules and judge it on results.
